Peanut's Point of View

Scene Setting:  Talking with Daddy right before hopping into bed for the night.

Daddy: "So, how was you day at school?"

Peanut: "It was fine Daddy...tomorrow we have reading buddies though."

Daddy:  "Reading buddies, huh?  Do you like it?"

Peanut: "Well...I have 2 buddies actually...they are both boys...it's just gross"

Daddy: (secretly doing backflips and happy dances in his head)  "okay"

Fashion Edition: What I'll wear to Grand Cayman

Our little getaway is only 2 weeks away…

To say that I’m excited would be an understatement…

Since this is something that my hubby “won”, in essence from work, there are some stipulations and/or dress codes while we are there…which is perfectly understandable seeing as they are paying for everything and I’m along for the ride…

However, my “free” vacation has turned into a bit of an expense (albeit FUN) with the amount of clothing that I must acquire before take off.

I’m a SAHM…who likes to play on the floor…swing on swings…get dirty in the garden…play chalk in the driveway…therefore, I basically own DENIM…denim shorts, denim capris, denim skirt…and I believe I own every color of tee shirt known to man…

But, that’s about it…well, unless you count my floofy Easter outfit that I bought about 4 years ago on a whim with my 20 year old sister at the time…had she not been there, I doubt I would have picked a pale pink twirly skirt off the rack, even if it were free…

So there you have it…I’ve been out shopping…and to do this I have to get into a ‘mode’ if you will…I have to “become” someone else…because, seriously…if it were ME shopping, I’d come back with one more tee shirt and the “cutest new pair of denim capris” and that’s NOT going to help me for our trip…

And, so…without further ado…I will share with you my finds this week…and if you are one that really doesn’t get into clothing all that much…well, I’ll just apologize now…

Each evening we are expecting some sort of gathering, in which I will need to dress appropriately…and by appropriately, it means that I can’t show up in my swimsuit and coverup…

I have a cute $4 maxi dress I got from a gap outlet a year ago…it’s blue…if you are friends with me on facebook you can view it here I had forgotten this item of clothing in the depths of my closet, because let's face it, when do you have an opportunity to where such a dress?  in between Twister and screaming on the soccer sidelines?  I think not...

Next we have a "steal" I discovered at Old Navy... I got the orange one...to which my sister replied, "Whew, glad you didn't get ME that color" (side note:  I bought her the green skirt)  I'm guessing she was not so subtly telling me that I may not have made the best choice...but, let us remember that I'm in a 'mode' and trying to get into the caribbean feel!  Plus, Sweetpea loves orange right now...and it gets me a cute little smile!  I am coupling the skirt with a white tank and a colorful, crazy cool necklace!

finally...this one is probably my favorite find..but just because I found it at LOFT. Well...and I also got an additional 35% off...woohoo...

so there you have it...i'm still in search of some dressy capris as a "just in case" situation...but I have some time...

We are both looking forward to some getaway time!!!

It may seem as though I've had trouble blogging lately...

That would be because I'm having trouble blogging lately...

It's actually quite surprising to me considering that I'm very rarely at a loss for words.

I suppose I've had a bit on my mind...nothing serious or anything...it could be that I'm just being lazy...I have been reading lately...

I've had about 4 books going at a time:  So Long Insecurity, The Bible, Hearts of Stone and Crazy Love...not to mention all the other blogs I visit often...gotta keep up on the latest ya know...

It's been beautiful outside, so I suppose the fact that I've left housework behind me and headed to my garden and riding bikes with the girls....well, that puts me behind as well...although my mounds of laundry are constant reminders...

Maybe it's the limping on my bumb leg?  I'm really trying to keep that silly aircast on it...but it doesn't really go with a lot of my outfits...and I'm all about fashion right?

Yeah...see those are all regular things...normal stuff...shouldn't be keeping me from blogging...

hmmmm...what could it be???

maybe it's THIS...

Seeing as Italian Stallion and I are heading there for a little getaway in TWO WEEKS...

Yep...I'm thinkin' that that's my problem...

stay tuned for my fashion excerpts about what I will wear to said trip!!! I know you're just dying to know...and, it gives me another blog topic...and since I've had trouble lately...I'm workin' on getting back into the swing of things...

He Knows Me

Isaiah 49:16
I will not forget you!  See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands!

It's not about rules...
It's not about being a good person...
It's not about being good enough to get to heaven...
It's not about following in your parents footsteps....
It's not about legalism...
It's not about having a fairygod"father" or a good luck charm...

It's about a relationship!

I'm amazed that the God who created the world...who made it so tiny ants know how to create an entire colony and how massive whales can communicate under water...who worked it so plants give off oxygen, but need carbon dioxide to live...who makes my heart continue to beat without me telling it too...this God, loves me...

He thinks of me...He thought of me as He died...He knew all about me way back then...(he's God...he can do that ya know)  He didn't stay dead (He can do that too, in case you were wondering)

He has the scars to prove His love for me...

Happy Easter!

Not Much

There's no reason really, to take a picture of your own eyeball...but, I was in a mood...

I had a great talk with my "peeps" tonight...my lifegroup peeps that is...

This parenting thing sometimes throws me for a loop...I know that there is no official plan book/guide book that tells me if A happens then do ______.  It helps to have people that have been there/done that and give me hope.

I gave my girls lots of cuddles tonight...we've got a big day planned today and a majority of it will be outside playing!!!  Hope that wherever you are...it's gorgeous!!!  Enjoy...

I'd Rather...

The past 24 hours has been a time period for me in which I'd rather ANYTHING than be in the position of parent...without going into details, it has been utterly exhausting, heartwrenching, sad, disappointing...I've fought feeling angry with myself, doubting myself...it's just NOT BEEN FUN.

And so...I thought I'd compile a list of other horrible things that I would have rather gone through than the situations that have transpired recently...to you they may not seem all that horrible, but if you KNOW me...well, you'll just completely understand my pain.

I'd rather...
1) have a "wax" done
2) get a SHOT...with a real needle...for no reason...(and I don't DO needles people)
3) eat McDonald's pickles UGH
4) pay full price for all my groceries...nothing on sale and NO coupons
5) throw out all the stuff (read TREASURES) in my basement
6) watch a suspense, thriller movie without closed captioning, in a dark room, on a stormy night
7) watch TV all evening without closed captioning, never turn on the computer or pick up a book.
8) drink a diet dr. pepper, while eating jalepeno peppers and sushi (you can read about my past sushi encounter here)
9) watch continuous, marathon episodes of Ninja Warrior
10) be trapped on a plane with no children but NO READING MATERIAL available
11) pop out of bed at 5am to start my day
12) pluck my eyebrows...with actual tweezers
13) unclog toilets at a local Mexican restaurant
14) turn in my digital camera for a polaroid (now, come on...if you can't tell I'm hurtin' here I don't know what will clue you in?)
15) throw out my 30% off at Kohls and pay full price for articles of clothing at Von Maur and then pay shipping too!

here's hoping for a better rest of the week...feel free to offer up prayers for patience, wisdom and sanity!!!

photoshop savvy egg pictures

I have two purposes in this post:  1) to show you the easter egg eggstravaganza that the family participated in the other evening...it's a time of angst for the parents as we watch with fear and trepidation as each child wipes the egg coloring dye onto their faces, their clothes and most importantly...our counter tops!!!  We are at the ready with Lysol and Magic eraser...(hee hee I almost said ereaster...isn't that silly?)  Anyhoo...we survived, our countertops have just a few splashes of color here and there that will wear down over time I suppose...although, I'm pretty sure Little Munchkin's shirt will never be the same...
and 2) It is amazing to me that I was able to find photoshop ACTIONS that work on elements...

What is an action you ask?

Well...I would be HAPPY to tell you...and "action", as it pertains to photoshop, is when you want to do something to the photo that would most likely take about 15 steps to do...for example, you want to brighten it, boost the contrast, change the saturation, burn the edges, swirl it a little, give it a hint of a vintage look, black and white it a bit...ALL this to ONE picture...it takes a bit of time to say the least...

Insert ACTION...all those steps are combined into ONE button and whammo...image done!

So, I played with a few of the actions...didn't do something to all of them...but, thought I'd share nonetheless...

hope you enjoy this upcoming beautiful weather...you may be seeing more pictures from MOI, as I can FINALLY get outside and practice a bit!!!  YIPPEE!!!
